چکیده

Background Dynamic gadolinium contrast-enhanced (DCE) vessel wall MRI has recently been used to compute a set of model-based contrast kinetic parameters (e.g. K and Vp) that can well characterize the extent of inflammation in carotid plaques [1,2]. However, no studies have shown its feasibility in coronary artery wall, presumably due to the technical challenges in imaging such a constantly-moving, ultra-small structure and potential difficulty in visually distinguishing the wall from the hyperintense lumen with conventional DCE techniques. This work aimed to develop a black-blood navigatorgated ECG-triggered T1-weighted sequence for DCE MRI of coronary vessel wall.

Black-blood dynamic contrast-enhanced carotid artery wall MRI with SRDIR preparation

Background Inflammation plays a major role in atherosclerotic plaque progression and disruption [1]. Dynamic gadolinium contrast-enhanced (DCE) vessel wall imaging has been used to compute a set of contrast kinetic parameters that may characterize the extent of inflammation of carotid plaques [2-4]. However, previous DCE techniques are limited to a 2D bright-blood acquisition and thus the accur...

Time-resolved Contrast-Enhanced Coronary Vessel Wall Imaging

Introduction: Most acute coronary syndromes result from rupture of vulnerable plaques [1]. As a result, it’s clinically very important to assess the vulnerability of coronary plaque. While studies have shown that inflammation plays a major role in plaque rupture, it is crucial to be able to evaluate the extent of inflammation of coronary vessel wall plaque. Contrast-enhanced studies have shown ...

Assessment of coronary artery disease wall thickening using phase-sensitive black-blood MRI: initial experience for the evaluation of coronary artery disease

Background Coronary arterial wall imaging is a promising non-invasive tool for quantitative assessment of arterial remodeling. Conventional techniques mandate imaging during cardiac rest period as well as nulling the blood signal inside the arterial lumen in order to generate an appropriate lumen-wall contrast. These constraints limited the use of coronary wall imaging. Recently, phase-sensitiv...

Homologous HOmologous Black-Bright-blood and flexible Interleaved imaging sequence (HOBBI) for dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI of the vessel wall.

PURPOSE To present a HOmologous Black-Bright-blood and flexible Interleaved imaging (HOBBI) sequence for dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the vessel wall. THEORY AND METHODS A HOBBI sequence is proposed to acquire high-spatial-resolution black-blood and high-temporal-resolution bright-blood dynamic contrast-enhanced images in an interleaved fashion. Black-blood im...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...
